Luke 6, Part 1

Scripture: Luke 6:1-11

Observation: Sabbath conflicts. The religious leaders had placed an exaggerated amount of details to the Sabbath, so much so that they'd lost perspective of the real issue of the Sabbath - glorifying God. Jesus tried to explain that King David violated the law to satisfy his hunger, and that doing good was lawful on the Sabbath. But the hearts of the Pharisees had become so hardened, rather than conviction they felt rage, and plotted to kill Jesus.

Application: Even today, as Christians there are times we can't see the forest for the trees. We're focused on little details, insignificant things our pastors or fellow brothers and sisters in Christ do, and become critical of them. Instead of bringing up the body of Christ, we do just what the enemy wants and bring it down. We need to accept our differences and choose to love one another as Christ loves us.

Prayer: Father, I know that I'm to treat others the way I wish to be treated. Yet at times I expect others to behave the way I think they should, or else they aren't acceptable. I pray You will teach me to have compassion and grace like You have with me, so that I may learn to love all fellow believers, no matter how similar or different we are. In Jesus' name, Amen.
