Luke 1, Part 2

Scripture: Luke 1:26-56

Observation: Jesus' birth is foretold. Elizabeth is pregnant with John the Baptist, and the baby leaps when he hears Mary's voice. Elizabeth is filled with the Holy Spirit and rejoices in the fact that God is using her in His plan for salvation. Mary then praises God in a hymn known as the Magnificat. She trusts in God and His purpose, even though this will be a difficult time for her.

Application: Not all of God's will for my life will be smooth sailing. It will be difficult at times, and lonely. In those moments, when my life is at its lowest point, can I still praise God?

Prayer: Father, You alone are worthy of my praise, and when life is good it's so easy to praise You. But when the hard times come, when problems arise and it seems like there's no hope, I will still praise You, because no matter what condition I'm in, no matter what is going on in my life, You are God, You are in control, and You are still worthy of all praise. I trust in You. You know what's best and why I need to experience the things I do. May Your holy name be praised forever. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
