Luke 8, Part 2

Scripture: Luke 8:16-21

Observation: Jesus compares His teaching to a light. Light is not hidden, because if it is, it's ineffectual. Light must be put where all can see. Jesus also says to those who have more will be given, but those who have little will lose what they think they have. Upon the approach of His mother and brothers, Jesus clarifies that His family are those who obey God's word.

Application: When we hear the Word and accept it, we profit from it. That which we profit from, we then have the responsibility to use for the glory of God, for the good of the body of Christ, and to help those who don't know the Lord. We should desire to share the Word of Life and to shine, giving light to all. Those who prove themselves faithful hearers and doers of the Word are counted as Jesus' relations.

Prayer: Father how great to be counted in such a blessed family! I have been adopted into a Holy Family by the blood of my Redeemer. This life changing experience is one I want to share with anyone and everyone who will listen, and even those who won't. Give me words to speak, Lord, and a heart to reach out to unbelievers, to doubters, to the unchurched, lost and confused. May my words and actions speak of the grace extended to me by my loving God. In Christ Jesus I pray, Amen.
