Luke 6, Part 4

Scripture: Luke 6:32-49

Observation: Jesus teaches attributes every Christian should have. He begins by teaching to love our enemies. After all, God kind and merciful even to the wicked. Next, we are taught to be forgiving and not judge others, because we will be judged with the same measure. Jesus proceeds with parables that speak against hypocrisy, and seeing the faults in others. Lastly, Jesus tells us we need to come to Him, hear His words, and act on them. Only then will we produce good fruit.

Application: The Bible is our life manual. Jesus gives simple explanations on how to live our life to the fullest. True, it isn't what our society says is the way to live. Our culture teaches, "It's all about ME," while Jesus taught to put others first. But one look at our society and it's plain to see, they've got it wrong and Jesus has it right.

Prayer: Father it's so easy to get taken up in the "me" way of thinking, but in the end this selfish approach to life is empty and brings no joy. I pray You will remind me to put others before myself, so that I can be more like You and experience the true joy and satisfaction that is achieved when I give more than receive. Thank You for Your Word and teachings. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
