Luke 3, Part 2

Scripture: Luke 3:21-38

Observation: Jesus is baptized and approved by the Father and the Holy Spirit. Then Luke takes us through the lineage of Jesus, as Matthew did. The big difference is that Matthew started with Abraham, showing Jesus' lineage to Israel, while Luke went all the way back to Adam, showing Jesus' significance for all people.

Application: We all come from the same beginning. We are all God's creation. None of us is an accident. God created each of us for His pleasure, and although we've all fallen to sin, God sent His Son to die for all, so that all people may have eternal life in Him. Every one of us has that opportunity.

Prayer: Father, You showed Your great love for us, in that while we were sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). Such a huge gift, redemption! What then, do You ask of me? Your Word tells me to walk humbly with You in justice and kindness (Micah 6:8), and to share my hope with others (Matthew 28:19-20). What You ask is nothing in comparison with what You've given and continue to give each day. May I continue to walk in Your ways and bring You the joy and pleasure You created me for. In Jesus' name, Amen.
