Luke 6, Part 2

Scripture: Luke 6:12-16

Observation: After spending the night in prayer, Jesus picks the 12 apostles, disciples He would send out to take the Gospel.

Application: Jesus could have picked out the 12 apostles on His own. Being fully God and fully man, He would have made the wisest choices. Yet He spent a whole night in prayer before going out and choosing His apostles. Jesus taught us a very important lesson that day: even if we're going to do something that we're confident in doing, we still need to pray about it. Am I taking the time to consult my decisions with my Father before proceeding?

Prayer: Father, so many times I've felt self sufficient. I feel like I can take care of the little things, and only need to consult with You for the big things. But even Jesus ran His decisions by You. You want me to trust You with everything in my life. I pray You will keep me close to You and help me make decisions that will bring You glory and honor, which You rightfully deserve. Even the little, seemingly insignificant things. Because to You, all of my life is important and valuable. To You be the Glory. In Jesus' name, Amen.

  1. Independance is my greatest stumbling block. Like a two year old I often run past God saying "I can do it all by myself!"

I was reading in Joshua last night and came across this scripture, which I underlined

"They did not bother to ask the Lord, but went ahead and signed a peace treaty"

Result? Disaster! People do not change. Asking God is a discipline not a natural inclination!!

Thank you for joining me at the Glass House. I look forward to you sharing your insights (we are quite a discussion oriented group)
