Luke 2, Part 2

Scripture: Luke 2:41-52

Observation: The boy Jesus in the temple. At age 12, Jesus stays behind after the Passover to question the elders and priests regarding the law. Unfortunately He doesn't tell His parents, who search frantically for Him. When they find Him, He tells them He's where He needs to be, in His Father's house. But Scripture also tells us He was an obedient son.

Application: Mary and Joseph were in Jerusalem for Passover. Jesus went with them. As a parent, am I modeling a Christian life and teaching it to my children? They will follow my example, whether good or bad. I must teach them to love the Lord with all their hearts, or else they may never learn.

Prayer: Father, You have entrusted me with a great treasure: my children, which You call a blessing (Psalm 127:3). Help me to teach them, to guide them in Your ways, and to set an example of love and dedication to Your will, so that they will desire to have that kind of relationship with You. Teach me to be their spiritual teacher, so that they too can be spiritual leaders in the future. In Jesus' name, Amen.
